Our Environmental Policy
Nature’s Gift not only recognizes its responsibility for fostering responsible pet ownership but is also a signatory of the Australian Packaging Covenant (“APC”). By backing the APC objectives towards product stewardship, it demonstrates our commitment and recognition that the protection of our environment is a major responsibility for all Australians.

As a manufacturer we are very aware of our responsibility in relation to the resources used in our production, packaging and operations. We offer in-house education by addressing litter and recycling issues amongst all our employees. As a brand we assist the education process of the general public by encouraging recycling via our product labelling and our informative website.
Our Environmental Commitment
We operate with many practices that are considered to be environmentally favourable. The following initiatives demonstrate our past and ongoing commitment to the environment:
- Water is no longer considered an infinite resource and strategies and plans for its conservation and measured use is now an accepted reality for most Australians. As a small business, Nature’s Gift has been an industry forerunner in reducing our consumption of water for manufacturing. In 2005 we installed a water recycling/ cooling tower system. Although initially an expensive outlay for our business, as a major water saving initiative, we now utilise 70% less mains water during our canning production process. Nature’s Gift further supports this ongoing environmental concern through a water usage and mapping program established with our local water authority, South East Water;
- Nature’s Gift products are fresh meat based and as a company initiative with our trade suppliers any meat / vegetable waste is segregated for collection to be recycled into blood and bone fertiliser;
- In-house office and factory paper / cardboard / plastics recycling systems have been installed, educating and expanding all our employees’ awareness towards better litter and recycling practices away from home. This system also ensures any supplier deliveries that are carton/paper packed, plastic shrink wrapped or strap packaged is also being sorted and diverted wherever possible from going to landfill waste;
- All our finished products are palletised and delivered on wooden pallets which are reusable / returnable through an agreed supplier exchange program;
- In 2006 an environmentally friendly, biodegradable plastic show bag was researched and introduced for sponsorships and promotional use at trade shows;
- Nature’s Gift was issued a certificate in March 2006 in recognition of our participation and achievements through the “cansmart” campaign educating consumers on recycling steel can packaging;
- All Nature’s Gift product labels carry consumer information for recycling or disposal where appropriate; and
- Nature’s Gift is a member of the Australian Industry Group’s national Sustainable Business Network providing access to information and advice on implementation of sustainable business practices and a network with other businesses seeking innovative solutions to their environmental challenges.
We are a conscientious and caring pet food manufacturer and have always endeavoured and will continue to deliver best practice environmental outcomes, within our means.
